Candlelight (!Dinner) And Family Friends

Oct 2025

As the waxing gibbous moon spatters golden glitter onto this planet, you arrived, soaked in the midnight shades of scorpio, riding the aquamarine tides of cancer, and borrowing the starry sparks of Aries.

[Sound]

The backdoor of the bus shuts. How magical it is that no two doors shut the same?

At home, your desk becomes the bus, wood blocks are the doors, you are the operator. You take imaginary people on imaginary trips.

doors open. doors shut.

SPARK

Bubbles soak the floor as you excitedly listen to the washing machine’s angry hum

Another problem your parents need to deal with other than tirelessly explaining to others why you’d run to their laundry room whenever you visit

but to you, the washing machine is the magical machine

you are imagining the future of washing machines

Swirl

Splash!

You asked for their computers for schoolwork, but instead browsed…

IRIS… MALLARDS… Red Spider Lilies… dogs IQ rankings….

An old guy who puts iPhones into blenders…

Abstract,

Concrete,

Funny,

Viral,

Nonsense…

You forgot to clear search history. They later found out and said, don’t hide, we are all for it.

to them, the Internet is never A MONSTER

You are told to take the trash out. Halfway down the stairs you see a piece of paper flying out. It was your drawing of a pear

You are told to take the trash out. Halfway down the stairs you see a piece of paper flying out. It was your drawing of a pear

Your mom gives you books. Animal worlds, Magical worlds, Spatial worlds,

You lay on your bed and imagined…

Your dad handed you an iPod touch

You don’t understand what a photograph is.

You just make them.

1000 of them a day

A puppy

A trash can

A blurred image of a friend

Half a cookie

Uhh…

I can’t tell but I think it’s a corner of a fridge?

and…

Another trash can

You lay on your bed and imagine…

you feel euphoria as if everything is on your side, as if you are on path to success… At least that’s what people are telling you.

That ages like milk

Practice papers for a weekend is thicker than an iPad. Your name annotated in red circles if your grade drops.

You hear teachers say “your brain has issues” because you made a video for your class

People stopped talking to you because you can’t find another Solution to a circle moving on a parabola

People scribble “lame” on a design you made because they’ve never seen anything like that before

You jokingly say to people that the design would either be ranked the top by a huge margin or the last.

Spoiler, it was the last

It takes you a long time to realize that isn’t your fault,

it’s their’s

if someone tells you that you’d be at CalArts 8 years later, will you believe it?

As the waxing gibbous moon spatters golden glitter onto this planet, you Curiously look outside the window at the spaces that would soon feel like home.

You and your friends sat under the trees reading and writing poems. “we read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion.”

And you wonder, “what would my verse be?”

You are still you.

The buses,

The bubbles,

The imaginary worlds,

The stories untold,

The 1000 photos,

The iris, the mallards, the red lillies,

The first 16 years were just the beginning.

Welcome to 2018

illumination

3 years in middle school showed you the raw forms of envy and hate while 3 years of high school taught you how to

LOVE

to love your friends,

to love your family,

to love what you love,

to love who you love

[whisper]

“Won’t your parents feel weird that we hang our alone?”

“No, I told them I like you…”

to love experiments,

to love the uncertainty,

to love… the incompleteness

[w]

the cloudy corridor looks infinitely long, you can’t see what’s on the other side

to love emotions

<w>

“It’s the coolest you I’ve ever seen when the first teardrop crawls down your face.”

to love yourself the way you want them to love you

So you are here…

You are here…

sitting…

linking…

Sleepy Mondays,

Crying Tuesdays,

Magic Wednesdays,

Terrific Thursdays,

Surprised Fridays…

As the waxing gibbous moon spatters golden glitter onto this planet, you stared at the mirage of Lulu courtyard, listening to the tree’s stories.
