Death of the Sakura (Cherry Blossoms)

Death of the Sakura (Cherry Blossoms)

Inspired by René Magritte’s The Treachery of Images, this multi-media installation explores rumor’s effect on my past friendship. The flower assemblage represents my friendship with a friend, since viral spread of rumors on our relation started after we watched cherry blossoms together. Juxtaposed with the video of withering flowers and “invitation” to write rumors on the paper in front, it questions that whether the cherry blossoms are still internally pure and fresh as it looks under the power of rumors.
